Chester Upland will meet Wednesday’s payroll

There’s a payday this week for Chester Upland School District employees. Still.

The financially struggling district has expressed concerns about meeting payroll through the end of the school year, but the Delaware County Daily Times reports a $1.8 million federal allocation and a $3.2 million state infusion will help pay the $1 million payroll Wednesday.

Now it’s the March 14 payroll date the district fears it won’t make.

Government assistance will help keep the school running for the rest of the year. The district must send an expenditures report to the state ahead of the next payroll date.
