Chester Upland District issues cease and desist to charter over school-closing ad

“Chester Upland is closing your child’s school and they will have to attend another CUSD school across town this school year,” reads an ad Chester Community Charter School placed in Friday’s Delaware County Daily Times.

But the school in question isn’t closing, Chester Upland School District officials say, and the district has issued a cease and desist letter to the charter school.

Acting Superintendent Dr. Joyce Wells tells the Delco Times the Village at Chester Upland isn’t closing and all of the district’s schools will continue to operate. A conversation about whether the Village School will move to another, now-vacant building, is ongoing, and Chester Community Charter hasn’t responded yet to the cease and desist letter.
