Celebrating science

Two University of Pennsylvania alumni will be honored tomorrow during a ceremony at Philadelphia’s American Philosophical Society. Both will receive the John Scott Award for scientific and medical achievements.

Dr. Christian J. Lambertsen, inventor of the SCUBA underwater breathing apparatus; and Dr. William A. Eaton, chief of the Laboratory of Chemical Physics at the National Institutes of Health, will receive the Philadelphia-based award, joining the ranks of Albert Einstein, Madame Curie and others.

Feed the Feed: Besides bifocals, SCUBA gear and cheesesteaks, what’s your favorite thing that originated in our region?
