    Two thieves settled for a couple of cash registers when they couldn’t budge their original target.

    After breaking into an Edison, N.J., convenience store in the wee hours Monday, the pair wrestled in vain with an ATM, reports the Newark Star-Ledger.

    Moments before police responded to a burglar alarm, the duo got away. It was a totaling loss.
