    We’re giving props to the Vendy Awards, whose 2012 winners were chosen over the weekend.

    The awards ceremony pays tribute to the best of the truly wonderful food available from Philadelphia’s street vendors. Perhaps more importantly, the competition raises money for the Food Trust, a non-profit that works to make sure Philly’s disadvantaged have access to affordable, nutritious food.

    The 2012 Vendy Cup winner is The Smoke Truck for its Southern style BBQ. Look for them near 9th and Catharine streets in Philly’s Bella Vista neighborhbood.

    The People’s Choice winner was Vernalicious, serving electic comfort food and sandwiches. Mobile popsicle stand Lil Pop Shop, on 44th Street in University City, won the best dessert truck award.
