Brick Police seek public’s help in locating hit-and-run vehicle

Brick Police are searching for a vehicle that fled after striking and critically injuring a 68-year-old pedestrian Monday evening.

The hit and run crash occurred on Lanes Mill Road near Burnt Tavern Road at approximately 5:45 p.m., when the vehicle struck James Joseph Cox, leaving him with multiple serious injuries, police said. Cox was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in critical condition.

Police are seeking a 2005-2007 Nissan four-door red or maroon sedan, which was last seen heading south of Lanes Mill Road. The vehicle likely has front end and possible windshield damage, police said. A witness told police that the license plate possibily contains the letters “CH” and ending with the letter “Z.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brick Township Police Department at (732) 262-1100.
