Brew house, restaurant are coming attractions at former Bucks theater

A nearly century-old theater and movie house in suburban Philadelphia is being reborn as a craft beer pub and restaurant.

The (Doylestown) Intelligencer  reports an area developer is revamping Quakertown’s Palace Theater into the Quakertown Brewing Co.

Co-owner Alicia DeMarco said the restaurant will offer beer brewed on the premises along with pub fare from surrouding farms.

The Palace Theater was built in 1922 and hosted vaudeville shows and later silent movies followed by talkies. It became an appliance store in the 1970s but has been vacant for the past few years.

As part of the new brewery, silent films will be projected onto a 20-foot back wall.DeMarco said she hopes for a grand opening in spring 2015.
