The story behind Mt. Airy’s Bioluminescence mural

There are many ways to navigate Philadelphia. Thanks to Jane Golden’s Mural Arts Program increasingly we can use her murals to tell people where they are. In 2005, Artist Sara Steele created one of the best landmark murals in the city in the heart of Mt. Airy. Bioluminescence is a colorful portrayal of the Caribbean Sea floor that its creator Sara Steele once saw.

It adds a splash of colors to a section of Germantown Avenue that seems downright Mt. Airy-ish. We caught up with Steele to discuss the story behind the mural at 7147 Germantown Ave.
