Biking borough

The Chester County Cycling Coalition wants to make West Chester a bike-friendly borough. Starting today, the group will distribute surveys to residents to help a plan for making the city more bike accessible and healthy.

West Chester Area School District, West Chester University, YMCA and Borough Leadership United for Emissions Reduction have teamed up with the coalition to earn the League of American Bicyclists’ “Bike Friendly” distinction, and are asking that bikers and non-bikers respond to the survey.

In order to be considered bike-friendly, the Daily Local notes, a community must have cycling promotion, education and awareness and a comprehensive bike lane/path plan that includes pedestrian, vehicle and law enforcement components.
