Beating the heat anyway possible

It was a low-key end to Philadelphia’s Welcome America festival

With temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, Monday’s final event of Welcome America was a chilly and welcome sight to many.

The Super Scooper All You Can Eat Ice Cream Festival was filled with people who were taking advantage of the five dollar price-tag and plenty of different flavors to sample. Dwight Sneed prefers a different frosty treat.

“It’s pretty cool the water ice is doing a better job than ice cream though, cools you off more, the ice cream makes you thirsty, it’s cool though.”

Brenda Ober went to the art museum first then hit the festival on the spur of the moment to beat the heat.

“You are not kidding. It’s so hot, and this is like perfect.”

But the most popular place to be seemed to be a hose rigged up to spray people with water as they exited.
