Barrage of disasters takes focus off BP spill anniversary

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of the BP oil spill in the gulf. But earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear disasters, mine cave-ins and fracking have all happened since then.

So a puppet show yesterday meant to remind people of the pollution and political corruption tied to the spill didn’t get the attention performers hoped it would.

WHYY’s Peter Crimmins and Kim Paynter were at the live performance at a BP gas station on North Broad Street yesterday, where only a few people stopped to catch the street performers dressed as oil execs.
