Are Americans more positive about the economy in their local area?

In these tumultuous times we know that Americans may be pretty negative about the economy in Europe and the rest of the world, but are Americans more positive about the economy in their local area?

We speak with Frank Newport, editor-in-chief at the Gallup Poll, about consumer confidence and the impact of various events including the world economic situation on Americans’ psyches.

Newport also discusses President Obama’s announcement that he would tell the government not to deport 800,000 children of illegal immigrants and how his announcement will affect the Hispanic vote in the upcoming presidential race. Are Hispanic voters generally still behind Obama?

Listen to Dave Heller and Frank Newport in this week’s audio interview of “What are we thinking?”
