Ardmore woman sits in tree to protest coal mining practices

A 21-year-old woman from Ardmore is staging a protest against coal mining practices by sitting in an 80-foot tree in West Virginia.

According to Maineline Media News, the woman is braving the elements to draw attention to the impact coal mining has had on people and the environment.

The 21-year-old, Becks Kolins, only has a hammock and ropes to support her in the tree she has called home since July 19.

According to the story, she intends to remain in the tree until she is forced to come down.
