Arab Spring extreme weather
In what has become known as the Arab Spring, authoritarian leaders were brought down by crowds calling for democracy in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen. Demonstrations followed in many other countries of the Middle East. In Egypt, the sun seemed to shine especially brightly — until the military orchestrated a takeover, leaving Egyptians once more in chains. Ordinary people continue to yearn for freedom and control of their own lives.
