Ackerman, Nutter to attend “Save Our Schools” rally in West Philadelphia

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and School District Superintendent Arlene Ackerman are breaking out the pom-poms. Both will address the crowd at this morning’s “Save Our Schools” rally in West Philadelphia.

They’ll join Bishop Richard Franklin Norris of St. Matthew’s AME Church for the rally in support of more funding for the District and for all Pennsylvania schools. Philadelphia’s district alone faces a $629 million budget hole, and is asking both the city and state to kick up financial support.

WHYY’s Dave Davies plans to attend the rally, which begins at 10:30.
