Fatal accident on Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls spurs heavy delays

    UPDATE: An accident investigation is underway at the scene, according to 511nj.org. Stop and go traffic is reported back to Exit 117. 

    A crash on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls is spurring heavy delays late Tuesday morning.

    The accident, which involves injuries, is in the southbound local lanes north of Exit 105, according to 511nj.org. The left lane in the local lanes and right lane in the express lanes are blocked as of 10:50 a.m.

    State Police tell APP that the crash involves an overturned white minivan and a pedestrian at milepost 107.8. The report says that the State Police Fatal Accident and Crime Scene were responding to the scene.

    A tweet from the New Jersey State Police said that a pedestrian was killed by the van. 

    JSHN contributor Bobby Ring submitted the above photo of southbound traffic backed up at mile marker 109.6 around 10:30 a.m. Others contributors, Christopher Van Daley and Kenny Fox, say that the accident appears serious.

    Stop and go traffic is back to Exit 116 in Holmdel at 11:00 a.m., according to Google Traffic.
