A strong classical player

Leon Bates has the touch of a master pianist and the muscles of a body builder. He is both. Born and trained in Philadelphia, he is grateful for  his local roots.

The music always came first for Bates, and his talent was recognized  when he was a six year old child growing up in Philadelphia.

Bates’ performing career is definitely home grown, nurtured at the Settlement Music School and perfected  at Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of Music .

His distinct style, versatility and verve have taken him to stages around the world. Leon Bates  recently returned to his Alma Mater to perform at Temple Performing Arts Center.
