5 outdoor weekend activities for the family

The weather should be springtime glorious this weekend, so we have a list of fabulous outdoor experiences to soak it all in.
Saturday & Sunday: Cherry Blossom Festivals
What says springtime more clearly than the hopeful pink and white beginnings of the cherry blossoms? This weekend you can catch back-to-back Cherry Blossom Festivals at the Morris Arboretum and in Fairmont Park for Sakura Sunday. The Chestnut Hill Avenue entrance to the arboretum will be open to help with the crowds at the Morris on Saturday, and the Sakua Sunday celebration is not to be missed! Sunday: StrEAT Festival Manayunk
Manayunk’s StrEAT Festival brings together food, fun, and music, and the opening of street festival season. It’s another hopeful sign that spring is really here! Your family will find food trucks, vendors, sidewalk sales, the kid-friendly Recess Zone, and a genuinely fun kick-off to Restaurant Week. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: Mural Arts Scavenger Hunt
Philadelphia is The City of Murals! With over 3,000 murals and counting, our city is rich with depictions of history, popular culture, sports, people and nature that made our city what it is today. Welcome the Mural Arts Tour Office to its new home at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and test out their new scavenger hunt app, hunting for treasures in the murals. Register ahead of time, and BYOD! (Bring Your Own Device). Free at 11 a.m.
Saturday & Sunday: Curious Creatures at Awbury
Check out the collaborative garden sculpture co-created by Project Learn students and an Arcadia University art design freshman. Art teachers at both Arcadia and Project Learn worked with students to create stories and designs for creatures that might live in Awbury’s Secret Garden. Opening Day on Saturday will feature children’s activities and a live animal show at 1 p.m. Opening day activities run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Clover Market is back… where kids and grownups can browse juried artist stands and find unique items. Everything from repurposed antiques to handmade jewelry and one of a kind items for the home. Kids can enjoy a craft at the kids stand. Dogs welcome too! 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
