Las Vegas casino magnate Steve Wynn met with Philadelphia Mayor Nutter Monday night. The two discussed Wynn’s plans to rescue the stalled Foxwoods casino in South Philadelphia.

Mayor Nutter says Wynn promised to hold public hearings on his plans for a slots parlor on the waterfront in South Philadelphia.

Nutter says he had a frank discussion with Wynn about neighborhood concerns such as parking, traffic and public access to the river.

“He has fallen in love with the notion of a civic vision for Philadelphia and has a much better understanding today maybe than what he had coming into the situation about a month ago.”

Last month Wynn appeared before the gaming board in Harrisburg. He later dismissed the idea of a civic vision to reporters.

Wynn delivered renderings of his proposal ahead of schedule to state gaming regulators.

The state Gaming board has fined the previous developers of Foxwoods Casino for missing deadlines.
