Repairs underway: Gloucester Co. crews work to repair earthen dam

Gloucester County crews are working to repair an earthen dam in Harrison Township that was breached as Hurricane Irene went through the area.

The Gloucester County Times reports loads of stone are being dumped in to repair the earthen dam, which crews at this time aren’t sure they can save.

Damage to the dam was noticed Sunday and appeared to be the most significant damage from the hurricane, according to the Gloucester County Times.

Crews are also working to restore power to more than 34,000 homes and businesses in the area.
