DiCicco challenger launches website about DROP payment

A candidate for Philadelphia City Council is taking his battle to the Web.  He’s using some tongue in cheek comparisons to make his point.

Joe Grace is challenging Councilman Frank DiCicco, partly because DiCicco is enrolled in the city’s DROP early retirement program.  Grace has set up the website whatwouldyoubuywithDiCiccosDROPMoney.com, highlighting what the $424,000 the councilman will receive at the end of the year could buy.  He demonstrated outside City Hall by using his iPad.

“All you do is touch it and you could bring up another one, you could put 11 police cruisers on the street for this money,” Grace said.  “You could also buy 1.3 million light bulbs with $424,000.”

Councilman DiCicco says the website is a distortion of the truth beause if he gave up his DROP payment it would not revert back to Philadelphia’s treasury it would go to the pension fund.  He also says if re-elected he would give his salary back to the city.
