Rick Mariano adjusting to life after prison

A former Philadelphia City Councilman convicted of corruption made his return to City Hall this week.  Rick Mariano came to City Hall to speak up for fellow ex-cons who want a fair chance to win a job based on their experience.  He describes life after prison this way.

“It’s tough, it’s tough coming from here going to prison and coming back, coming back is the worst thing and the worst about prison is the unknown.”

Among the problems Mariano has been dealing with is not finding work in his field.  He says hundreds of area electricians are out of work and he’s one of them.

“Everybody knows I’m out of work, they are going to know now so call me I’ll take a job,” he said.

Mariano jokes that he has more stories about prison that he’s saving.

“Ohhhh that would take forever Tommy and you are going to have to buy the book to know all about that.”

Mariano says he’s written some of the book.
