Could it be true? Appealing a Philadelphia parking ticket without missing work?

Appealing a Philadelphia parking ticket on-line is getting closer to reality.

Councilman Bill Green says he’s worked with the Nutter administration about modifying his bill to make it easier for people to appeal parking tickets.

“Anyone receiving a parking ticket in the city of Philadelphia will be able to go on-line and appeal that ticket either through a web portal or e-mail or any other electronic means,” said Green.

Initially, Green had included telephone hearings, but took them out.

“They just say there is no practical way they can make it work, today and so to provide most of the relief that we were trying to provide we are going to move forward with just electronic options and snail mail,” said Green.

The bill still needs final approval and the mayor’s signature before irate drivers can begin pleading their case on-line.
