$14k short

With just two days ’til Christmas, the Delaware County Times/Salvation Army Christmas Fund could use a little help. The goal to raise $50,000 to provide families with food, warm clothes, toys and Christmas dinner hasn’t quite been met.

Captain of the Salvation Army Chester Corps. Jose Santiago attributes the shortcoming to the economy, citing the hard times even those with jobs have fallen on, and the danger some middle class residents face of becoming impoverished.

The fundraiser is still $14,299 short, but the donations to date have already helped 415 families. The Delaware County Times is publishing the donation list, but the Salvation Army’s Chester facility is accepting the funds.
