You can get a charge out of this story…for free

Tens of thousands of people in South Jersey face almost a week without electricity. In addition to food and water, some are offering help for a new kind of “necessity.”

The AT&T phone center in Egg Harbor Township’s Shore Mall has set up a free charging station so those without power can top off their phone’s battery.

“We’re inviting folks in who were affected by the storm. We want them to come to the store charge up their devices and to get out of the heat for a while as well,” said AT&T’s Brandy Bell.  She said customers from competing wireless companies are welcome.

People who want to power up their phones need to BYOC…bring your own charger.

“If you don’t have your charger with you or you can’t find it in all the chaos of the storm you couldn’t dig it out we will do our best to work with you,” said Bell.

The offer is available during regular mall hours.
