Despite poll popularity, Christie again rules out 2012 presidential run

An online Zogby poll shows New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie leading the list of potential Republican nominees for the 2012 presidential race.Christie has the support of 27 percent of those surveyed. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is second with 17 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gets 16 percent.Christie is the only Republican the poll shows leading President Barack Obama in voter support.Christie joked Tuesday that his first-place showing is good news for the president.”I’m sure the president is resting easy as we speak right now knowing that the only person who’s beating him in a poll will once again declare that I’m not running for president of the United States,” Christie said.Christie has repeatedly insisted he will not be a candidate for president or vice president next year.
