Philly means business with video marketing contest

Philadelphia is calling on businesses to make their own motivational videos.

An ongoing contest invites Philadelphia business owners to come up with a 30-second video completing this phrase: “Philadelphia is a smart city and a smart choice for my business because….”

Mayor Michael Nutter says it’s an opportunity for businesses to tell their story.

“They can just answer the question or be more creative, we just want to know about your experience here in the city,” Nutter said. “I’ll be visiting many of the winners later in the year and we’ll be using these videos as part of our business development campaign going forward.”

The mayor says the homemade videos should be a persuasive tool to lure new business.

“These videos will be packaged to some extent in a certain way to put together an audio and visual introduction to the business person as to why they should be here in Philadelphia,” he said.

Winners will be announced Sept. 30.
