Right2Read Philly campaign reaches 100,000 families this summer

The Community Schools Reading Intervention program was developed by elementary school officials and Mercer Street Friends during the pandemic.

Thirty-one percent of public school students in grades 3-8 scored at or above benchmark on the Star Assessment in winter 2023-24, a 2% increase from winter 2022-23.

Less than 30% of third graders in Philly public schools scored proficient or higher in reading last school year. A new program challenges students to read more at home.
