World-renowned soprano Renée Fleming joins us to talk about the healing power of music.

Even if you aren’t an opera aficionado, you likely know the name Renée Fleming. The celebrated soprano has performed all over the world and been honored with five Grammys, and the U.S. National Medal of Arts. But when she’s not singing, Fleming has also been a leading health advocate, making the case for music’s powerful healing benefits. She leads a collaboration between the National Institutes of Health and the National Endowment for the Arts investigating the effect of the creative arts on our brains and bodies. And she has a new anthology out, Music and Mind, all about those discoveries and the surprising things we are learning. Renée Fleming joins us to talk about singing, music and the arts as medicine.

Food podcaster and pasta enthusiast Dan Pashman joins us to talk about his new book Anything’s Pastable. In 2021, he received trademark protection for his pasta shape Cascatelli – ital.: waterfalls. We talk about marinara sauce, olive oil, and everything you ever wanted to know about spaghetti, tortellini, and more.
