‘This is momentous’: Philly to guarantee lawyers for some renters facing eviction

The goal is not only to have a $15 minimum wage, but to wrestle control for future wage increases out of state control and into local hands.

The acclaimed program was slated to expire at the end of the year. It is now poised to operate through the first half of 2024.

The effort is designed to keep harmful evictions off the tenants’ records and prevent landlords from having to find another tenant.
