SEPTA could cut services by 20%, raise fares as soon as this fall, CEO warns

SEPTA scrapped plans for a $48 million park and ride garage near its regional rail station and instead approved a mixed-use development project lease.

To continue the free transportation program for low-income Philadelphians, it would cost the city $30 million each year.

The mass transit agency has implemented a hiring freeze for non-essential workers and is considering fare hikes if more state money isn’t forthcoming.
