Mercer County Executive Hughes ends reelection campaign

A supermajority of delegates at an endorsement convention for Mercer County Democrats support the longtime assemblyman over the five-term incumbent.

Incumbent Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes has backed out of two candidate forums ahead of his party’s endorsement convention this weekend.

The county’s chief financial officer “did not hold, or even apply for” a required certification during his entire tenure, per the report.
