Less traffic, less risk: Zamar Jones’ neighbors pitch speed bumps as a violence deterrent

On April 23 at 8 p.m. SEPTA will shut down the elevators at the station for repairs. No date has been set on when they’ll reopen yet.

The concrete slabs on both ends of the block where 7-year-old Zamar Jones was fatally shot remind neighbors of the government’s promises — and struggles.

Mantua residents are working with city transportation planners to improve safety on a dangerous corridor. Changes are expected to come later this year.
