Making Friends in Adulthood, Rip Currents, The First Bank

The First Bank of the United States is right here in Philadelphia, and it was at the center of the debate over how to structure our country’s economy. Now, there are plans to make it a museum for the public to enjoy, says WHYY’s Peter Crimmins.


Americans report having fewer close friends than ever before…but making new friends as an adult can be tough and pretty awkward. We’ll get some tips about making connections in adulthood and discuss why these friendships are so important with psychologist Marisa Franco, author of ‘Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make – and Keep – Friends.’


Hazardous rip currents claim the lives of more than 100 people in the US each year. We’ll talk with Greg Dusek, senior scientist at NOAA’s National Ocean Service, about predicting dangerous tides and staying safe this summer.
