Some of the best talent Willingboro has to offer is on display in WHYY’s first-ever virtual talent showcase, judged by celebrity musicians – and Willingboro natives – Adam Blackstone and Rashid Williams, along with WHYY’s Joy Soto. Willingboro’s tap-dancing mayor, Dr. Tiffani Worthy, kicked off the show.
The show was organized and produced by Dr. Amy Dean, WHYY’s Community Curator for Willingboro. Dr. Dean has been working with WHYY to co-lead a Community Conversation series entitled ‘Recreating Willingboro,’ which provides a space for residents to envision a new paradigm for the township of roughly 30,000 individuals.
During these Community Conversations, several residents spoke of the need to change the narrative about Willingboro and showcase its positivity. This virtual talent show is the start of that work.
