Pennsylvania House lawmakers pass bill to recruit more educators by offering $10K stipends

Barring any departures, Democrats will hold their 102-101 majority of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives over Republicans for another two years.

The proposal applies to municipal police officers and firefighters who have been retired for at least five years, as well as some retired teachers and state employees.

The decision comes nearly a year after Project HOME co-founders Sister Mary Scullion and Joan McConnon announced they would be stepping down.
