North Wildwood trying not to lose the man vs. nature fight on its eroded beaches

More than 130,000 cubic yards of sand have been restored as part of a $25 million effort to protect Route 1 and combat severe erosion at Indian River Inlet.

The plan is not yet funded and is still subject to change. Construction could begin as early as 2030.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will pump 2.1 million cubic yards of sand onto the shoreline between the Manasquan Inlet and Seaside Park.
