New rule for new drivers in N.J.: What parents need to know about the mandatory requirement

A bill is working its way through the N.J. legislature that would allow a license to be carried on a cellphone, tablet, or any device with internet capability.

The N.J. MVC is still struggling to serve customers and regain its footing after a nearly four-month closure and a persistent demand for services.

The move means those who are not legally present in the United States may be able to apply for driver’s licenses as early as May.
