Judge rejects Sen. Bob Menendez’s request to delay his May bribery trial for two months

U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez has been convicted of accepting bribes of cash, gold and a luxury car from three New Jersey businessmen.

Prosecutors say the Democrat accepted nearly $150,000 in gold bars and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash from three New Jersey businessmen from 2018 to 2022.

The senior Senate Foreign Relations Committee staffer testified Monday that the Democrat directed that Egypt be involved in the planning for the 2021 trip.
