Trenton Police Department adds 14 new officers, bucking national trend

Trenton, N.J. officials say police officers are receiving extensive training to safeguard residents and protect their Constitutional rights.

A 45-page report found that officers "frequently" violated people’s constitutional rights. Talks towards a consent decree are expected.

The investigation will focus on allegations that officers have used excessive force, stopped motorists and pedestrians without justification, and illegally searched homes.
