Supreme Court contraception ruling would disproportionately affect low-wage workers

The Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years in a decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The court did little more than defer its first action on an abortion-related issue since the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last month.

The court said it would hear an appeal by 20 mainly Democratic states of a lower-court ruling that declared part of the statute unconstitutional and cast a cloud over the rest
