N.J.’s endangered piping plover population increased in 2019, but researchers are cautiously optimistic

The canceled solicitation for proposals is the latest blow to New Jersey’s offshore wind industry and the planned Atlantic Shores project.

The state was able to delist the species because their reproductive rate over multiple years reached sustainable levels.

The plan is not yet funded and is still subject to change. Construction could begin as early as 2030.
