At a meeting to monitor the district’s academic progress, Philly’s school board reflected on the rollout of a new “science of reading” curriculum and other changes.

The school says its suspension at half-pay and other sanctions on Amy Wax is over her comments about race in recent years. She will also lose her named chair and summer pay.

A faculty committee found Amy Wax had a history of making derogatory generalizations about groups of people based on race, gender, sexual orientation and immigration status.
