Wolf vetoes bill to halt closure of two state centers for people with intellectual disabilities

The state will direct the $50 million it planned to spend in fiscal year 2026 on expanding Legislative Hall to counter losses in federal funding.

The agency is responsible for monitoring infectious diseases, inspecting foods and hospitals and overseeing health insurance programs for nearly half the country.

Advocates are working to pass medically assisted suicide this year after a similar bill was vetoed last year.
