Proposal would keep Pennsylvania students enrolled amid district residency disputes

Pennsylvania’s Senate has passed legislation to encourage school districts to effectively ban students’ use of cellphones during the school day.

Democrats are pushing for billions of additional dollars for public schools, but Republicans are pressing to expand taxpayer funding for private schools.

The measure seeks to expand what the state’s four state-related universities — the University of Pittsburgh, Temple, Lincoln, and Penn State — have to publicly disclose.
