Pennsylvania’s governor to push for millions in funds for economic development in budget

The governor’s plan tackles the growing nursing shortage by paying students part of their tuition back if they stay in Pennsylvania to work.

Last year, the state passed a budget with record education spending. Shapiro is asking for more money for education, including more than $500 million more for schools in need.

Approximately 7.7% of Pennsylvanians are foreign-born — close to 1 million residents. More than half are naturalized citizens eligible to vote.
