Prince Philip is laid to rest as somber queen sits alone

Queen Elizabeth II’s flag-draped coffin has slowly processed through the Scottish countryside on a journey from Balmoral Castle to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh.

Philip, also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, took part in planning his funeral and its focus on family was in accordance with his wishes.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the palace said.
