Another Philadelphia school temporarily shut due to COVID cases

Masking will be optional for students and staff except when determined necessary to fight an outbreak.

Test results for the 22-23 school year show that only 40% of students in grades 3-8 scored proficiently in English language arts, a 2 percentage point decline from last year.

The district is one of just a few in the U.S. to require masks periodically this school year. Nearby Camden City School District also started the year with a mask mandate.
