The U.S. Coast Guard came to the rescue of a kayaker that capsized in the Cape May Inlet on Saturday.
A commercial fisherman spotted the kayaker in the water shortly before 11 a.m. and contacted the Coast Guard via VHF-FM radio.
The Coast Guard launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Cape May.
The crew rescued the man and transported him back to base, where local emergency medical technicians evaluated the kayaker.
“If you see something, say something,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean Davis, watchstander at Sector Delaware Bay. “The quick response and communication of this good Samaritan helped save a person’s life. We encourage people to look out for their fellow mariners and contact the Coast Guard immediately if they see any signs of danger.”
