Paul Hagen only living inductee to Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012

It was announced Wednesday that there will not be a class of new players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this year, as none secured the 75 percent vote tally needed by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Several players from past eras will be inducted posthumously — along with one broadcaster, who has also passed away.

That leaves just one living inductee: longtime Philadelphia Daily News sports reporter Paul Hagen.

Hagen was the Phillies’ beat writer for nearly 20 years before going on to write columns at the paper. He’s now a general assignment reporter for MLB.com. Hagen spoke with NewsWorks Tonight producer Shai Ben-Yaacov from Arizona, where he’s covering a national meeting of team owners.
